Seasonal Notes, Plans, Hopes & Dreams
2024 Planning - Seat of pants trips, Hiking partners needed! .... All Backpacking/Camping. Possibly late July but more likely late August - Early September.
4 options currently in cross-hairs
1) Sangre de Cristo's, Backpacking prob 4 days or so
(IF we find a experienced partner)
The Crestones (Class 3/4) & Humbodlt Peak (Class 2)
Camp @ South Colony Lakes for Crestones - Near Westcliffe, CO
Crestone & Crestone Needle are potentially rough Class 3
2) Finish San Juans (possibly 7 days, 10 days w/ Sneffles)
Main Objective: Chicago Basin (READ THIS)
Mt Sneffels on route for warm-up - from Ouray?
Chicago Basin group via Train to Needleton stop
Four peaks in the basin: Mt Eolus , Windom Peak, N Eolus and Sunlight Peak
Potentially tough bunch: Difficult class 2, class 3 AND Sunlight = class 4 but crux is near summit!
3) North: Dip a toe onto Elk Range. Backpacking prob 3 days
Castle & Conundrum Peaks - Difficult Class 2 hikes
Camp on TH RT - Hike looks to be between 8 & 13 miles
4) North; Finish Front Range
Longs Peak - Class 3 and a very looong single day (15 miles)
Camping/Lodging TBD (popular area)
----------
Planning typically starts here ... VERY FLUID plans in the spring as snowpack melts and hiking partners begin to line up!
Check in periodically to see how things are progressing.
Shoot Tom P a note if you are interested in joining in ...
